Calypso wanted to be The Taste of The Islands. They had the tropical flavors. They had the fun-loving island mascot. All the bones of the brand were there. They just needed help with the meat, so it was time for a full brand revamp.
It’s one thing to say you’re the Taste of The Islands. It’s another to prove it. We want the drinker to feel like they’re chilling on the beaches of Barbados without a worry in the world.
We planned a full brand overhaul. Once we updated the look, the mascot and the voice, we were able to lift sales 33% in one year.
One of the biggest changes came with the invention of Calypso’s new voice. On the back of each bottle, we brought JoJo the Gecko to life.
Jojo started out as the voice of the brand, but we evolved him to be the quintessential lovable beach bum. He’s fun-loving, a bit mischievous and loves everything Calypso.
