Veryvell is a relatively new CBD beverage + drops in Colorado. Like many start-ups I've worked with, they needed a brand voice. So my first task was rebranding their Instagram copy. The audience was Coloradians who enjoy the benefits of CBD, and they wanted to position their brand as a moment of wellness with every sip.
My solution was to convey these moments in the copy, as well as extend "wellness" to include mental health, mindfulness and validation. It's Instagram. Everyone's anxious. If we wanted to be a wellness brand on Instagram, we needed to address the mental health of those who scrolling for hours on end. Once the CD approved the direction, the rest was easy. I imagined the brand being the empathic, spiritual, therapist friend in a friend group — and all the copy fell into place.
I was fortunate to collaborate with a gifted art director who captured the right photography needed for the concept. But because we needed to interact with our audience on an intellectual level, we knew photography alone wasn't going to do the job. So I developed three different copy formulas for text-only posts that would serve as the “heart strings” of the brand.
Sometimes, I check in on Veryvell’s Instagram to see how it has evolved. I’m always pleased to see the current copywriter writing text-only posts that follow the formulas I created.
